[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 has moved further into record territory and the Nasdaq Composite sports a 0.9% gain, boosted by strength in the mega caps. Apple (AAPL 230.81, +3.32, +1.5%), Microsoft (MSFT 421.57, +2.25, +1.3%), and NVIDIA (NVDA 138.24, +3.44, +2.5%) are influential winners so far.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average has traded below its prior close, clipped by weakness in Boeing (BA 146.90, -4.16, -2.7%) after warning of a Q3 revenue shortfall and announcing a workforce reduction.
The loss in BA has also contributed to the price action in the S&P 500 industrial sector (-0.1%). The energy sector is the worst performing sector so far amid falling commodity prices. WTI crude oil futures are down 1.3% to $74.63/bbl and natural gas futures are down 3.7% to $2.54/mmbtu.
The information technology sector shows a 1.6% gain thanks to gains in its weightiest components.
