SPACs will often leak news of a pending acquisition to the media because they want to gauge investor enthusiasm before actually going through with a deal.
Investors and speculators are clearly excited by the prospect of CCIV buying Lucid Motors, which is run by the former Chief Engineer of Tesla's Model S. The stock has traded as high as $27 just on the rumor of a Lucid Motors purchase.

Fast forward two days and positive headlines gapped the stock up over $30 to spark renewed interest.
After another week of narrow consolidation, the next push over its December highs triggered an aggressive Short squeeze as high as $59 for a gain of +127% on the remaining balance.
