ChartTrader started to actively trade T-Bond futures on the short side in August, nearly picking the top in bonds. He felt the market was not properly appreciating the risk of a cyclical acceleration due to signs of credit growth and very misguided popular fears of a recession during the 2H of 2016. He found his spot, got short, and picked a very wide target. That target was hit out of the election.

CHART ChartTrader: Bonds strong on the downside. I have a "seed" size short position there again that I will add to in ZB and ZN (ie, TLT), but more noting here to make sure everyone sees the move because it has implications for everything else you are watching
I want to add up to more size on a move above 1.625% on the 10-yr, as noted earlier in the week. I re-entered the same position at very, very small size a bit earlier. The important point is this: We are likely seeing a shift away from a focus on QE toward a focus on fiscal economic support. This is particularly important in EU and Japan, as they have been the forces holding up the US bond market lately. We are still coming off record levels of spec long positioning in bond futures. But data has been worsening, including some measures of bank lending, which was my key element. That said, technically, I have been looking for a move back to test pre-Brexit levels on rates. If this type of shift gets traction, the action in stocks will see a range expansion for certain. One potential interplay will be some aggressive selling in Utilities and Telecom, where the refugees from the Bond market have been hiding out. Something to watch out for.

CHART ChartTrader: Bonds breaking lower here to test/extend downtrend. New lows in TLT, ZB pressing the level. If this breaks sharply from here, will start to impact stocks. Keep an eye out
Sitting up about +85 ticks on the ZB short here (about +3.00 in TLT). But still want to leave the stop wide as we let this pattern mature a bit.

CHART ChartTrader: 10-yr hitting the 1.75% target zone here...taking a piece off the Bond market short position
Very nice move here. Banking a piece of exposure for about 128 ticks on ZB, or about 4.60 TLT. And about 70 ticks on ZN. Keeping half of position on.

CHART ChartTrader: I'm covering the last piece of my Bond short here 163'
Good for about 200 ticks on the trade...will likely put it back on following the election Noted this morning premarket that I might do this today.

BRIEFING TRADER SUBSCRIBERS SAY...
"Just a note the outside target for the bond short Brett explained before it hit today & exceeded so I got out on the remaining balance, a great trade yielding almost 20K per contract."
