[BRIEFING.COM] The major averages stand little changed in the last half hour, hovering close to their session-best levels with the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite out front, up 1.82%, with the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average in a tight race for second place, up 1.50% and 1.49%, respectively.
All 30 names in the Dow Jones Industrial Average show gains to this point on Tuesday with the best moves coming out of Apple (AAPL 209.18, +8.70, +4.34%), Intel (INTC 46.87, +1.27, +2.79%), and Caterpillar (CAT 119.85, +3.13, +2.68%). Tech in general, including AAPL and INTC, sees decent gains today in reaction to news out this afternoon that the U.S. government would delay 10% tariffs on Chinese goods until December 15. CAT also gets a modest boost from the tariff headlines, though the lion's share of the stock's gains today are attributed to solid July North American 3-Month Rolling Machine Sales data.
Conversely, though still in positive territory shares of beverage giant Coca-Cola (KO 53.32, +0.12, +0.23%) show the shallowest advance thus far today.
The DJIA's move today takes the losses on the month back to about 2.16% vs yesterday's more than 3% declines.
