The S&P 500 flirted with record territory on Wednesday
morning, but pulled back in the afternoon as investors expressed concern over a
surge in bond yields. The S&P 500 finished the session with a slim gain of 0.1%
after trading as high as +0.6% intraday.
Today after the close the following companies were scheduled to report earnings: PIR, SNX, RECN.
Futures are higher after hours: S&P 500 futures are +1.00 from its fair value of 2,930 and Nasdaq-100 futures are +2.00 from fair value of 7,663.
Tomorrow morning, economic reports scheduled to be released include: Initial Claims (08:30am ET, Consensus 210K), Continuing Claims (08:30am ET, Consensus NA).
Tomorrow before the open the following companies are scheduled to report earnings: STZ, ISCA.
Looking at the energy market, oil settled the day higher following the release of the weekly EIA data.
EIA petroleum data for the week ended Sept. 28:
- Crude oil inventories had a build of 8.0 mln barrels
- Gasoline Inventories has a draw of 0.5 mln barrels
- Distillate Inventories has a draw of 1.8 mln barrels
