HHS eases lingering virus worries
Dow +208.27 at 28743.98, Nasdaq +115.68 at 9255.01, S&P +32.48 at 3276.11

[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 is up 1.0% as it continues its steady advance. HHS Secretary Azar recently said that "Americans should not worry for their own safety" at this time regarding the coronavirus.

As previously mentioned, the stock market has spent this session clearly not worrying about the novel virus or its effect on global growth. Shares of Apple (AAPL 315.81, +6.82, +2.2%) are now up more than 2% after yesterday's 2.9% drop.

Better-than-expected consumer confidence for January and durable goods orders for December has aided risk sentiment today.
