Overnight Treasury Market Summary

Trimming Recent Gains

  • U.S. Treasuries are on track for a modestly lower start in longer tenors while the short end is set to begin closer to the unchanged level after a subdued night. Treasury futures spent the bulk of the night in a sideways range, slipping to lows during the past hour while other sovereign debt has also seen some selling. The overnight session saw a rebound in most equity markets, including South Korea's Kospi (+2.1%), though the index finished essentially where it opened, giving back a portion of its gain into the close. Fed Chairman Warsh spoke at the IMF-World Bank annual meeting overnight but did not offer any hints about a potential rate hike. Crude oil hovers just above $98/bbl while the U.S. Dollar Index is down 0.4% at 101.68.
