Medtronic (MDT $34.42 +1.15) reported second quarter earnings of $0.84 per share, excluding non-recurring items, $0.02 better than the Capital IQ Consensus Estimate of $0.82.
Revenues rose 5.9% year/year to $4.13 billion versus the $4.07 billion consensus.
The company reaffirmed guidance for fiscal year 2012 with EPS of $3.43-3.50, excluding non-recurring items, versus the $3.44 consensus with revenue growth from continuing operations of +1-3%. International revenue of $1.832 billion increased 14 percent as reported, or 6 percent on a constant currency basis. International sales accounted for 44 percent of Medtronic's worldwide revenue in the quarter. Emerging market revenue of $414 million increased 21% as reported, or 19% on a constant currency basis.
