Like last week, the DOL announced that there were not any statistical problems behind the unexpected decline.
The initial claims report is not only clearly showing an improving labor sector, but it is also showing that businesses are becoming less worried about the future economic situation.
The continuing claims level fell from 3.625 mln for the week ending December 3 to 3.546 mln for the week ending December 10. The consensus expected continuing claims to increase to 3.650 mln.
