Briefing.com Economist Named a Top Forecaster by USA Today
for Third Year in a Row
CHICAGO – March 29, 2006 – Briefing.com Chief Economist,
Timothy Rogers, has been named a top economic forecaster by USA
Today for 2005. He is the only economist to place in the top ten each of the
past three years, surpassing all Wall Street and independent firms.Rogers, who has been analyzing and
forecasting economic, Federal Reserve and Treasury data since 1987, ranks number
three this year. Allen Sinai, president of Decision Economics, ranks number one
and Don Ratajczak, consulting economist for Morgan Keegan, ranks number two.
"I am proud to once again be among the top three USA Today forecasters
and among such a fine group of experts," said Rogers. "Briefing.com clients have
trust in our outlook given that we are the only of the forty-five entries to
rank in the top six over the past three years."
USA Today, which has more readers than any other newspaper in the
country, used statistical methods to assess the joint accuracy of the
predictions, scoring on a percentage basis of how similar each quarterly
forecast was to the actual outcomes of the economy. The economists, whose
identities were not revealed to those gathering the data, received four scores -
one for each quarterly survey - and were ranked on the average of those scores.
"Briefing.com's objective and consistently accurate analysis have been
the keys to our success with Wall Street traders and individual investors," says
Dick Green, president of Briefing.com. "No other firm matches our depth of
products and reputation for quality."
