News and Commentary Complements Popular Technical Analysis and
Community Resources Available on one of the Web's
Fastest-Growing Investment Sites SAN
FRANCISCO, March 8, 1999 — ClearStation, the intelligent
investment community, today announced partnerships with
MarketWatch.com (NASDAQ: MKTW), TheStreet.com and Briefing.com
to bring financial market news and commentary to ClearStation’s
growing audience of online investors. The partners’ market
coverage is featured in a new ClearStation site offering called
"The Right Edge." The Right Edge provides ClearStation
users with daily market updates and analysis, as well as stock
tips from ClearStation’s founder and chief investment
strategist, Doug Fairclough. More than 75,000 ClearStation
members currently receive Fairclough’s popular analysis via
email under his online moniker, "kensey," upon free registration
at www.clearstation.com.
According to ClearStation’s vice president of marketing and
business development, Will Winkelstein, The Right Edge expands
on the site’s "Three-Point" investment approach which encourages
investors to integrate technical analysis with fundamental
analysis and community discussion to make better trading
decisions. "ClearStation members spend an average three
hours a month on our site evaluating, tracking and discussing
stocks, but they’ve had to go elsewhere for financial news and
commentary," said Winkelstein. "With the release of The Right
Edge, they now have direct access to the most insightful and
timely market coverage available on the Web."
Partnership Details - MarketWatch.com will provide
in-depth daily analysis of the financial markets, including
up to the minute market coverage, sector reports, IPO
announcements and insights from stock commentator, Thom
Calandra. The addition of MarketWatch.com editorial on
ClearStation expands an existing partnership between the two
companies that began in December 1998 with the publishing of
ClearStation’s education articles about technical analysis
on the CBS.MarketWatch.com Web site.
-
TheStreet.com will provide morning, mid-day and evening
market coverage, with additional market analysis from TSC’s
market analysts. TSC content on ClearStation also expands an
existing partnership. Doug Fairclough has been a regular
contributor of stock commentary for TSC’s "Go Figure" column
since August 1998.
- Briefing.com will
provide three of its most valuable offerings: "Story
Stocks," "Upgrades and Downgrades" (providing news of
financial analyst stock ratings changes), and stock split
coverage.
ClearStation’s partners are
enthusiastic about the opportunity to join forces in providing
online investors with the highest quality market information
available. "ClearStation’s education articles have helped
our readers understand the importance of technical analysis,"
said Bill Bishop, vice president of business development at CBS
MarketWatch.com. "We’re happy now to provide their members with
quality news and commentary from MarketWatch.com." "Doug
Fairclough’s stock commentary in our ‘Go Figure’ column has been
fantastic," said Brendan Amyot, vice president and general
manager, consumer markets for TheStreet.com. "We’re thrilled to
expand our relationship with ClearStation and make TheStreet’s
unique brand of market analysis available to ClearStation
members through The Right Edge." "ClearStation does an
outstanding job at providing and educating the investing public
on the use of tools for technical analysis," said David Beasley,
vice president of sales and marketing for Briefing.com.
"Intra-day analysis from Briefing’s market experts form an
excellent complement to the integrated approach "The Right Edge"
brings to ClearStation users. The Right Edge marks the
first of several ClearStation site upgrades scheduled for the
first two quarters of 1999. Additional features scheduled
include an advanced interactive charting tool; "Three Point
View," offering stock-specific analysis and event tracking;
configurable portfolio and stock list views, and expanded
community features. The ClearStation Web site continues to
attract an increasing number of online investors and win praise
from industry watchers. Since its launch in July 1998, monthly
traffic has spiked to more than 200,000 unique visitors viewing
nine million pages, a growth rate of 33 percent. In January, the
site was nominated for a 1999 Webby Award in the finance
category, along with The Wall Street Journal Interactive,
E-Loan, The Motley Fool and Investor Home. About
