Other Helpful Tips
Although Briefing.com makes no specific system upgrade
suggestions, we recommend that everyone visit the
Microsoft Update site on a regular schedule.
- Click on the link above, or within Internet Explorer, select
Tools > Windows Update or Help > Windows Update
(IE 4.0).
- On the left hand side of the page that opens, select the
Pick Updates to Install
link. All of the critical updates will be selected by default
including the Internet Explorer update.
- Select the Review and Install Updates button.
- Finally, select the Install button. You may have to
visit the site multiple times to ensure your system is up to
date.
After changing any system settings you will need to login to
Briefing.com.
- To open multiple windows simultaneously, you may want to
use the CTRL + N function to prevent the receipt of
any errors.
- It may be helpful to re-save any Briefing.com
content pages under your favorites.
- Remember, always use the LOG OUT button when you
are finished viewing the Briefing.com website.
Stock Quotes and Portfolio set-up
The following instructions are necessary to enable 3rd party
cookies for Quote.com, who provide our stock quote and portfolio
functionality.
- Close all but one browser window
- Under the Tools menu, select Internet Options
from the list
- Select the Security tab, and click the green
Trusted Sites icon.
- Click the Sites... button in the Trusted sites
section
- Un-check the Require server verification (https) for
all sites in this zone checkbox
- In the Add this Web site... field, input
http://*.briefing.com
and click the Add button.
- In the same field, input http://*.quote.com,
click the Add button, and then OK.
- Click the Default Level button
- Click Apply, and then OK to exit the
Internet Options window.
- Close all open browser windows

Font Issues
If the font sizes on Briefing.com are too large, too small or
have changed, you can adjust the way fonts are viewed.
From Internet Explorer:

From the View menu, select Text Size option

Make sure text view is set at Medium, or you can select
Small/Smallest to adjust viewing to your preference.

Printing Issues
If you are unable to print, or if a printed page is cut off at
the left or right margin, you may need to adjust your margin and/or printer
settings.
For Margin settings:

From the File menu, select Page Setup.

At bottom, adjust your left or right margins as necessary.
For instance, if your default is 0.75", change to 0.5".
For Printer Settings:

From the File menu, select Page Setup.

Click on Options and then select Properties.

Click on Effects and resize the the printout
percentage to fit all content onto one page.
Briefing.com E-Mail Services
Not Receiving E-Mail Alerts
If e-mail alerts are not being delivered, click on the Edit My Profile
link under the e-mail Services heading on the
Investor Index to
make sure that you correctly entered your e-mail address when you registered for Briefing.com's Investor service. You can also edit your
e-mail preferences
here should you decide to opt-in or opt-out of additional Briefing.com e-mail
offerings.
If your e-mail address was entered correctly and you still are
not receiving alerts, check the bulk/junk/spam folder within
your e-mail box to see if your ISP is filing Briefing.com e-mails
as spam. Then, add the
update@briefing.com e-mail address to your safe senders list
or check the e-mail as Not Spam so that Briefing.com e-mails will
be delivered directly to your Inbox.
Unable to Access Briefing.com Content Via Links in E-mail Newsletters
If you receive an error message that says "Username and password already
in use" or "Someone may be using your password" after clicking on a
link within a Briefing.com e-mail, you may have exceeded the number of
simultaneous sessions allowed with your Briefing.com account. Please be
sure to log out of the Briefing.com site by using the log-out button and click
on the link in the e-mail again.
